Get Fit Now

Obesity statistics

In today’s society centred around consumption it is very easy to slip into an unhealthy lifestyle. 26% of the adult population is obese with an alarming 1 in 5 children leaving primary school classified as obese1. We seriously need to think about what kind of example we are setting to younger generations. We need to get fit and get fit quick. With over half of the population overweight or obese2 there is a serious urgency for individuals, to change their lifestyle.

This website aims to inspire and motivate you to make a positive change in your life, perhaps before the onset of medical complications such as type 2 diabetes. (Link to find out more about the different types of diabetes). As the founder of Athletic Diabetics and a Type 1 Diabetic myself (13 years and counting) I implore you to change your lifestyle and heed the warnings that doctors issue so that you can avoid the complications associated with diabetes.

Athletic Diabetics will provide a unique and frank assessment of what it is like to live with diabetes (type 1 and 2), provide information about diabetes and predominately support diabetics that do sports. This is in line with the goals for this movement to:

  • To create a network of athletic diabetics providing inspiration and support to diabetics that wish to participate in sports.
  • Provide education about the condition to members of the public to dispel certain stereotypes about living with the condition
  • Inspire and motivate people, diabetic or not to live a healthier lifestyle
